December

The Moonlit Cage was released in the U.K.

November

• Linda was a guest at ECS School in Montreal, to conduct creative writing workshops. Her book Search of the Moon King's Daughter was the "common read" for all students in Middle School.

• Dutch rights to The Moonlit Cage were purchased by Uniboek, Netherlands.

October

• Linda was in France to meet with the director and with the editor of France Loisirs. She had the opportunity to be interviewed and sign books for some of France-Loisirs' sales teams in both Paris and Rennes. These teams are promoting L'Oiseau du Cachemire— the French edition of The Linnet Bird— throughout the country.

As well, France Loisirs held a champagne reception in Paris, where she signed books and met the people who worked to acquire, translate, create and publish this French edition of The Linnet Bird.   

• Linda then went on to Germany where she met with her editor from Bertelsmann who published The Linnet Bird as Smaragd Vogel. The book is being distributed in the 300 German Bertelsmann Clubs and is the focus title on the German web site www.derclub.de. She signed books at three Der Club bookstores in Berlin, and was the honoured guest at the Berlin presentation at the Europa Centre.

This evening event was through invitation by Bertelsmann and the Canadian Embassy. In attendance was Ambassador Paul Dubois, the DG James Lambert, Astrid Holzamer, Cultural Attache to Music and Literature, and Fernando Carro, the new head of the Bertelsmann Club for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Welcome speeches were delivered by the Ambassador and Mr. Carro. In front of the invitation-only audience Linda was interviewed at length on the writing of the novel, and later signed books.   

• Crown Publishers of New York have purchased the U.S. rights to The Moonlit Cage.  

September

• Copies of The Moonlit Cage were sold to BCA in the U.K. This is Britain's largest mail order bookseller.   

June

• France Loisirs Premier Book Club has purchased rights for The Linnet Bird.  

• German rights to The Moonlit Cage have been purchased by Bertlesmann Club RM Buch und Medien Vertrieb.   

May

• Linda's novel-in-progress, The Moonlit Cage is announced. It will be published by Headline UK in December 2005, with Canadian distribution by McArthur and Co.      

• Crown Publishers web site now includes a printable Reading Group Guide for The Linnet Bird.  

April

The Linnet Bird was chosen as a forthcoming Book-of-the-Month Club selection.

• Swedish rights to The Linnet Bird were purchased by Richters Forlag.   

January

Search of the Moon King’s Daughter was nominated for the Pacific Northwest Library Association’s Young Readers Choice Award for 2005. This is the oldest children’s choice award in the U.S. and Canada, established in 1940, and represents books which reflect quality literature and are popular with large numbers of children.     

Search of the Moon King’s Daughter was nominated for the Beehive Awards 2004-2005 through the Children’s Literature Association of Utah. Titles are nominated for their originality, artistic worth, reader appeal, literary quality, and imagination.
